Answers to FAQ's

 1. For our standard hydro you will need a minimum of 3 gallons per minute @ 200 feet of head, or 38 gallons per minute @ 9 feet of head. Our optional Stainless runner will operate at much less.

 2. This depends on numerous factors. You must have enough water, sometimes cooperative neighbors and the site should be as close as possible to the batteries for best efficiency but it is possible to run long distance at the higher voltages. Use this basic formula to determine if you have a hydro site: Head X GPM divided by 10=z. Z should be greater than 50. If z is lesser than 50 consult us. Permits and environmental issues should be considered as well, for more detail click here.

 3. We strongly encourage our customers do go through the permit process to make everything legal. Before ordering you can also setup the site. This would include building a pond, running the majority of the pipe and creating a flow path for the water to return to the stream. Once you've ordered your hydro, you will know what size wire you can run. We carry all necessary wire sizes should you decide to order that from us as well.

 4. Put simply, mount the hydro box to your pre-made base that should have a 14 inch by 14 inch square hole, connect the pipe, run the wires and that's it. It is also recommended that you cover the hydro with a vented rain cover of some sort to minimize condensation and the elements.

 5. When you place your order we will discuss the options with what resources are available. We will then add up the figures and tell you.

 9. Currently, you have to show proof of business and call us.

10. Nothing, at least not directly. A hydro unit is for charging batteries, nothing more. From the batteries you run an inverter, which we also sell, to change the electricity from 12, 24, 48 volts dc to 120/240 volts ac. DC devises can be run directly from the battery. For AC loads you need an inverter.

11. For non-existent answers you can e-mail us at altpower@grantspass.com and for a more detailed answer send us a check for three dollars and we will send you our handbook. The three dollars strictly covers printing and shipping costs.
